Nimbus GTK theme for Gnome 2.18: where is?

June 15th, 2007 No comments

I love this gtk theme but there is a problem. Yesterday I’ve dist-upgrade my debian box. I use testing repository and they just have updated xorg and gnome. When I was using gnome 2.14 this was my theme:

Awesome, isn’t it? :asd:
After the dist-upgrade I’ve lost the nimbus controls! So help me, if someone knows something about an update of nimbus theme write here or send me a mail to dierre [at] gmail [dot] com

This is my theme now:

Hello! I’ve used this tutorial to use Windows fonts on Gnome. I know now you are hating me for that but those fonts are pretty good.
Here a screenshot after the treatment:

Linus vs Gnome (developers), 1-0

February 17th, 2007 No comments

This diatribe began some months ago. This kind of discussion could have had some different ends but I would not have never imagined what has happened. Gnome developers invited Linus to try the desktop enviroment, but he doesn’t just try it, he wrote patches to improve the gnome usability:

Clean-up-double-middle-right-click-frame-action.patch (metacity)
Add-lower-and-menu-to-title-bar-action-events.patch (metacity)
Add-the-prefs.c-variables-for-middle-and-right-click-actions.patch (metacity)
Allow-actually-changing-preferences-for-middle-and-right-click.patch (metacity)
Fix-some-obvious-and-harmless-cut-and-paste-errors.patch (metacity)
Add-support-for-new-titlebar-actions.patch (control center)
gnome-window-properties-learn-about-mouse-actions.patch (control center)

I use gnome, I use gnome exclusively but Linus did a good thing. No more word, just act! And, for the records, these simple patches are useful.
